Ransom Jones is a singer/songwriter with a unique style. Ransom pursues a variety of topics in his song writing from fun to the profound. Ransom Jones is the alter ego of Josh Gort a stage name created to promote his music. Josh went to Tribeca Flashpoint Academy where he studied writing and directing for film. Ransom is influenced by a wide range of musicians from classic rock, alternative to pop. Some favorites include The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Bright Eyes, Modest Mouse, Bruno Mars and Taylor Swift to name a few. He has an eye for creation and what makes something great. He's inspired by many different art forms and life in general. Ransom Jones is the discovery of the human potential within us all. Ransom Jones gives meaning to my music in new ways and creates new stories. My goals as a musician are to inspire others through my music, help people get through their day, have someone enjoy my music so much they play it on repeat, go on tour across the country and world, come out with thought provoking emotional works of sound.
